The Stanford Center for Assessment, Learning and Equity (SCALE) has collaboratively developed a Deeper Learning Module Series for use within teacher preparation contexts. This set of pilot online modules was designed to engage candidates in inquiry-driven learning experiences that promote deeper learning and develop their capacity to integrate deeper learning competencies within their own P-12 instruction.

The pilot modules include a hybrid mix of online content and applied activities. Each module focuses on 1-2 deeper learning competencies, such as communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and academic mindset. The modules were designed for faculty/instructors in educator preparation programs to flexibly integrate into existing courses with teacher candidates. They will be released as Open Educational Resources (OER) in Fall/Winter 2021, after they are refined based on initial feedback and user data.
